Following the successful eight symposia held in Bern 2005/2007 and in Fribourg 2009/2011 as well as in Geneva 2006/2008/2010/2012, the meeting will be hosted again in Fribourg.
The symposium will be hold on January 17/18, 2013 at the University of Fribourg under the principal topic of Experimental approaches to clinical problems.
Medical research, especially surgical research, is becoming more and more important in our current world of innovations, fast application of new devices and implementation of new techniques in humans.
All these projects necessarily require pre-clinical testing which is normally carried out in animal trials. Thus, it is of outmost importance to train young researchers, whether medical or veterinary doctors, biologists or engineers in order that they may acquire the necessary competencies.
However, experimental surgery is not only performed in animals but also in humans. Therefore the symposium 2013 in Fribourg will also address this research topic with presentations about experimental surgery in humans.
Such meetings are not only important for the teaching of technical aspects, but they also give the opportunity to consider ethical and regulatory aspects of animal use for experimentation.
6 Swiss universities
Research teams and experts from one American and six Swiss universities will present their results at the upcoming symposium.
Please note already in your calendar: The 10th issue of the symposium will take place again in Bern in January 2014!
