This Certificate aims at improving the employability of graduates who hold a university degree in Life Sciences and the program has been designed to bridge the gap between Academic and Industrial Life Sciences (ILS)

Academics from the Faculty of Science, Life Sciences employers and the Career Center of the University of Geneva (Uni-Emploi) have put together the Certificate in Industrial Life Sciences (CILS).


Graduates holding a master or a PhD degree in biochemistry, biology, bioinformatics, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent



  • Acquire the basic vocabulary used in ILS and learn about the different jobs linked to ILS
  • Understand the different phases of product developmentand acquire a basic knowledge of the activities linked to these phases
  • Learn about specific tools, e.g. in the field of Quality as well as Technical Lab Skills (such as health and safety), Project Management (such as risk analysis)
  • Acquire targeted knowledge and know-how related to a specific job “category” through a 6-month traineeship in industry performed after the courses
