The management team of Ayanda - a South African name signifying growth and prosperity - consists of a complementary mix of engineering scientists and experienced management, who share a common vision and a commitment to excellence, market leadership and financial growth.

We are developing a high-performance cell-based platform for high-throughput reliable screening (HTRS) assays in drug discovery and cell-based proteomics. Our core competencies are in microfabrication, microsystem integration, molecular surface engineering and biomaterials. Our target market includes the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, as well as academic and government R&D institutions. A key advantage and differentiating feature of our technology over current market standards for high-throughput screening is in the use of electrochemical detection.

Technology overview

Our current product is a single multi-electrode array (MEA) unit for applications in acute brain slice electrophysiology, which can be customised for specific customer requirements. This MEA core technology forms the basis of our main product that is currently under development ('the HTRS product').

We are developing a 96-well high-throughput platform that utilizes electrochemical detection. Primary target applications of the platform are cell-based primary screening to provide rapid and reliable information on potential drug targets and candidates, as well as protein-capture chips employing a novel label-free, electrical detection scheme.
