What is BIO2001?
The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) hosts every year the world's largest biotechnology convention attracting participants from around the world, working for industry, academic institutions, and economic and promotional entities alike. The biotechnology convention includes workshops on various aspects of biotechnology (such as scientific presentations, regulation, finance, marketing), as well as investment forums, technology transfer sessions, and numerous other opportunities for networking.
BIO2001 took place from the 24thof June to the 27thof June in San Diego, CA.
How was BioAlps participating?
We had three booths under the umbrella of the Swiss promotional organization, Location: Switzerland. A dozen exhibitors, representing both the academic institutions and the many start-ups of our region, were on hand to discuss with you our expertise in biotech and biomed.
Denis Hochstrasser, M.D., Professor of the University of Geneva was participating in the symposium 'Doing Business Globally: Novel European Models'.

Guy-Olivier Segond, Ph.D., President, Couselor of the State of Geneva was participating in the symposium 'Shaping Public Opinions: A European Case Study'. He was joined by eminent scientists and entrepreneurs to illustrate how the Swiss biotechnology industry helped build public support for medically-oriented biotechnology research.
In addition, outstanding researchers of our region were participating in several sessions of the Technology Partnering Forum.
Finally, a VIP cruise was organized by Location: Switzerland to bring together the movers and shakers of the biotech industry in our region.
